Privacy policy

How we handle your personal data, in plain English.

Last updated 8 October 2026

Kort version: We only collect what we need to help you. Enquiries that don’t become projects are deleted after 12 months, and analytics and ad tracking are only used if you say yes.

1. Who is responsible?

Skale Digital AB, company registration number 559582-0167, Halmstad, Sweden, is the data controller for personal data processed when you use skale.se or contact us. Please send any questions to info@skale.se.

2. What data do we collect?

  • Contact details you give us in forms, by email or by phone: name, company, email address and phone number.
  • What you write to us, such as what your business needs help with.
  • Technical information about how the site is used, such as page views and approximate location, if you have accepted analytics cookies.

3. Why do we process it?

We use the data to respond to your enquiry, prepare quotes, deliver what we have agreed and improve the site.

The legal basis is usually legitimate interest (replying when you contact us), contract (when you become a client) or consent (for analytics and marketing cookies).

4. How long do we keep it?

Enquiries that don’t lead to a project are kept for 12 months. They are then anonymised automatically: name, company, email, phone, message and ad click ID are removed, leaving only the date and the service concerned. This applies unless another legal basis requires longer storage. Client data is kept for as long as the contract runs and then for as long as Swedish bookkeeping law requires, currently seven years.

5. Contact forms

When you submit a form on skale.se, we store what you wrote (name, company, phone number, email, what you need help with, budget and message) in our database at Hostinger, and it is emailed to us via Google Workspace. The enquiry is also stored in Skale’s own customer system, SkaleFlow, where we follow it up. You receive a copy by email. The purpose is to reply to you and prepare a proposal (legitimate interest).

If you reached us through a Google ad and accepted marketing cookies, we also store the ad click ID with your enquiry, here and in SkaleFlow, so we can see which ads generate enquiries. It is deleted together with the rest of your data.

To stop spam, the forms have a hidden field and a limit on too many enquiries in a short time. The limit counts enquiries per connection using a one-way hash of the IP address, which is discarded after an hour. We do not store your IP address.

6. Site search and questions to us

When you search on skale.se, we store what you searched for, how many results the search returned, which result you clicked and whether you asked a question. Email addresses, phone numbers and Swedish personal identity numbers are removed from the search before anything is stored. We use no cookies for this and store no IP address or any ID that can be linked to you. The purpose is to see what the site is missing and improve it (legitimate interest). Searches are kept for 12 months, after which only monthly totals remain.

If you ask a question in the search, we store the question, your phone number and your email address, and receive it by email and in our customer system, SkaleFlow, so we can reply (legitimate interest). Questions are deleted after 12 months.

Your recent searches are shown only to you. They are stored in your browser until you close the tab and are not sent to us.

7. Our free tools

Our free tools at skale.se/en/tools/ need no account and set no cookies. What you enter is sent only to Google, and only to carry out the analysis:

  • The website address (in the Free Ads Audit and the competitor check) is sent to Google PageSpeed Insights, which measures the page. Our server also fetches the page, robots.txt and sitemap.xml from that address to check the SEO basics.
  • What you type in the business search field (in the Google reviews, Google profile and competitor check tools, and the marketing calendar’s personal mode) is sent to Google’s Places service, which suggests businesses and returns their public details.

What is stored, and for how long: the result of a website analysis is stored for 24 hours per domain, so the same address isn’t measured again unnecessarily. Business details from Google are not stored at all; they are shown only to you. We do not store what you searched for or which business you chose, and nothing is linked to you.

To keep the tools from being overloaded, we count analyses per connection using a one-way hash of the IP address, which is discarded after an hour. We do not store your IP address. If you have accepted analytics, we record that a tool was used and how far you got, but never the address, the business or what you searched for.

The loading time shown at the bottom of every page is measured in your own browser. It is not sent to us or anyone else.

8. Who we share it with

We share it only with the suppliers we use to run the site and the business:

  • Hostinger: web hosting. The site and what you send through the forms are stored with them.
  • Google Workspace: email. Form enquiries and emails to us are received there.
  • SkaleFlow: Skale’s own customer system. Form enquiries and search questions are stored there so we can follow them up.
  • Google (Analytics and Ads): analytics and ad tracking, only if you accept them in the cookie banner.
  • Google (PageSpeed Insights and Places): what you enter in the free tools, see section 7.

9. Your rights

You have the right to know what data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to the processing and to withdraw your consent. Contact info@skale.se and we’ll help. We reply within one month, as the GDPR requires.

If you think we are handling your data incorrectly, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).
